LINER PROTECTION FABRIC

PondTechnology Liner Protection Fabric is a tough synthetic fabric typically used below garden pond liners to protect the rubber from puncture by rocks, roots, and other soil debris. Unlike sand bedding, carpet padding (never use old carpet!), and old newspapers commonly used for this purpose, PondTechnology Liner Protection Fabric also protects against puncture from objects above the liner by limiting how much the liner can stretch under pressure. When garden pond liners are to be covered with soil, gravel, rocks, or concrete, fabric should be used both above and below the liner.

CHARACTERISTICS: PondTechnology Liner Protection Fabric is a gray-colored, non-woven polyester fabric with optimal characteristics for pond construction. It is approximately one-eighth inch thick, substantially thicker than fabrics commonly used for landscaping and soil filtration, yet is extremely flexible and conformable and weighs only one-half pound per square yard. Since it does not deteriorate under a wide range of soil pH and is essentially non-biodegradable, it should last as long as our rubber pond liners. Its heat and sunlight stability makes it suitable for use under reservoir liners and stormwater retention pond liners that may be exposed to direct sunlight for extended periods when water levels are low. Unlike less-expensive fabrics, PondTechnology Liner Protection Fabric is scanned for metal debris from manufacturing that could damage soft rubber liners.

SIZES: We offer three standard roll sizes: 5 ft x 100 ft, 7.5 ft x 100 ft, and 15 ft x 300 ft We cut the 5 ft and 7.5 ft widths to any length and can supply a combination of cut lengths to fit any standard or custom Butyl or EPDM liner.

Liner Protection Fabric, 5 ft wide, per foot, $1.20
Liner Protection Fabric, 5 ft x 100 ft, $100.00
Liner Protection Fabric, 7.5 ft wide, per foot, $1.80
Liner Protection Fabric, 7.5 ft x 100 ft, $150.00
Liner Protection Fabric, 15 ft x 300 ft, $900.00

INSTALLATION: Simply spread the fabric over the excavation, folding and pleating as necessary to obtain a good fit. Overlap adjacent sheets of fabric six to twelve inches and spread sand over the joints so the fabric will stay in place when the liner is dragged over it. When installing large liners it is often better to lay the rubber in place first and then fold back sections of the rubber to install the fabric.

Liner Protection Fabric used below a pond liner protects against damage from roots and rocks. Fabric is more effective than sand and more durable than old carpet.

Liner Protection Fabric used below a pond liner also protects against damage from rocks and animals above by preventing the liner from stretching enough to tear.

Where liners are to be covered with rocks, sand, earth, or other fill, Liner Protection Fabric used above the liner creates a barrier that is almost impossible to breach.

For recreational ponds or abusive environments, it may be appropirate to use Liner Protection Fabric both above and below the liner for the ultimate protection.
